An Old-Fashioned Malted Mudslide
Best enjoyed in the shade of a waxy-leafed tree, in the late afternoon, on a medium-hot day.
An Old-Fashioned Malted Mudslide
- 1 generous scoop Talenti Tahitian-Vanilla Gelato
- 1.75oz Tullamore Dew (12 year) Irish Whiskey
- 1oz Kahlua Especial
- 4oz club soda
- Mix, in order, in lowball glass.
- Drizzle with chocolate syrup, if desired.
Leave out all the boozes, if you want — it's still hell-of-the-good.

The bonus is that it tastes pretty good, too.
so, this exists
With any objet d'art, the reasons one might enjoy the piece are (probably) completely orthogonal to those which drove its creation.
I am pleased that the world contains people who make these sorts of artifacts occur, whatever their reasons may be.
Audio Redux
Our comfortable-listening sound system was upgraded, recently. This setup for sequestered relaxed music-enjoyment is proving to work out rather well:
[Apple TV]
→
[Emotiva XDA-2]
→
[Mackie HR824]
-
Pro:
- Sounds fantastic — a very clean signal path from source to air.
- Kit feels solid. XDA-2 remote is pleasantly weighty and chunky.
-
Contra:
- Apple TV output tops out at 48k, well short of the 192k the DAC can handle.
- XDA-2's push-button volume control is tedious.
- Blue display is garish.
